Bampton is a very old village and dates back at least to Roman times. Until relatively recently however Bampton people did not move and stayed more or less within the village envelope or very closeby. Over the last couple of centuries however people did start to move away, some going elsewhere in the UK, but many went overseas and are, or their descendents are, now scattered around the globe. As such, we get many questions about familiy ties - people seeking information on their ancestors or living relatives.

We also get quite a lot of questions about the WWII years, when US troops were billeted in Bampton for a time.

And of course RAF Brize Norton is only a few miles up the road, and we get questions and requests coming in on a regular basis from people who were linked in some way to the Base in the past, and wanting to know what has changed, and what has not.
